Elemental Damage and Armor

This article explains how Elemental Damage and Armor stats work for titans.

Element Cycle

Each titan belongs to one of six elements: water, fire, earth, distortion, light, and darkness. Water, fire, and earth interact according to the Element Cycle:

  • Water gets extra damage and defense against fire.
  • Fire gets extra damage and defense against earth.
  • Earth gets extra attack and defense against water.

Distortion titans have an advantage over light and darkness but are vulnerable to fire, water, and earth. Light and darkness, in turn, counter each other.

The interactions between the elements can be illustrated as follows:

Note: Following the Element Cycle rules does not guarantee victory. Other factors — such as team composition and the randomness of certain skills — can also influence the outcome of a battle.

This extra damage and defense against the counter-element are provided by Elemental Damage and Elemental Armor stats. You can find them in the Stats section of the titan screen:

Note: Totems do not have Elemental Damage bonus like titans, but Elemental Armor protects titans from totems in accordance with the Element Cycle. You can find an example of how it works in this article.

Elemental Damage

Elemental Damage increases damage dealt to counter-element titans. For example, water, earth, and fire titans deal increased damage to both their counter-element in the Cycle and distortion. Thus, water titans deal increased damage to fire and distortion titans.

To enhance Elemental Damage, you need to upgrade the titan's Artifact Weapon.

Elemental Damage is applied directly to the base damage value. For example, you can add Angus' Elemental Damage to his Attack stat to calculate how much damage he deals to water and distortion titans with his basic attack.

Elemental Damage becomes less effective against higher-level opponents. It changes according to the formula: Modified Elemental Damage = Elemental Damage / (1 + level difference / 10).

Elemental Armor

Elemental Armor reduces the damage your titans take.

When attacking, titans are protected from their counter-elements. Fire titans, for example, are protected from earth and distortion, light titans — from darkness, and distortion titans are protected from both light and darkness.

When defending, Elemental Armor works differently:

  • Earth, water, and fire titans are protected from fire, earth, water, and distortion.
  • Light and darkness titans are protected from light, darkness, and distortion.
  • Distortion titans are protected from all elements, including distortion.

To level up Elemental Armor, you need to upgrade the titan's Artifact Crown.

Elemental Armor works under the following formula: Final damage = initial damage / (1 + Elemental Armor / 300,000).

Let us take a look at the example of Nova, a water titan, attacking Angus, an earth titan. Elemental Armor reduces water's attacks against earth.

Now, applying the formula:

  • 1,286,286 / (1 + 146,547 / 300,000) = 1,286,286 / 1,48849 = ~864,154

Thus, Nova's basic attack deals 864,154 damage after accounting for Angus' Elemental Armor:

Elemental Armor becomes less effective against higher-level opponents. It changes according to the formula: Modified Elemental Armor = Elemental Armor / (1 + level difference / 10).
