Affinity Skills: Details

This article goes into more detail about Elemental and Primal Skills of totems and the nuances of their mechanics.

Elemental Skills

There are six Elemental Skills in the game. Most of them affect the entire team and have no cooldown, unless specified in their description.

Flame Dance, The Depths Whisper, and Murmur of the Crags have the same effects as the base skills of the Fire, Water, and Earth Totems. And though the base skills are more powerful, the corresponding Elemental Skills are more flexible, as you can craft these skills for any totem. For example, you can make a damage-focused Fire Totem also heal its allies by crafting The Depths Whisper skill for it. The table below outlines the details of these skills.

Base Skill Corresponding Elemental Skill Description

Age of Flames

Flame Dance

Summons a flame that sweeps through the opponent team and deals damage to the nearest rivals.

Blessing of the Deep

The Depths Whisper

Song of Ancient Mountains

Murmur of the Crags

Creates a barrier that protects all allies from attacks. It loses durability when damaged but reflects twice the damage received back to opponents.

These skills activate shortly after the Base Skill of the totem they are attached to. Thus, they do not have a cooldown, and their activation frequency depends solely on the totem's energy generation.

The next three Elemental Skills — Last Flash, Wrath of the Depth, and Ice Age — have unique effects and activate according to what's happening in battle. Let's take a closer look at them.

last flash.png

Last Flash activates when a titan is about to die and makes them go berserk instead. While enraged, the titan's speed and attack power increase, and they become invulnerable to all opponent effects and debuffs. However, allies can still apply buffs to them.

Titan's health cannot drop below 1, but they always die when the skill's effect ends. Last Flash activates only once per battle.

Opponents cannot target an enraged titan. So, when a titan that deals damage over time (such as Araji or Tenebris) attacks a rival and triggers Last Flash on them, the target will switch to the next nearest opponent:

If a titan had any debuffs before becoming enraged, those effects remain active until they end. However, no new debuffs can be applied.

Last Flash ends sooner than stated in its description if all allied titans are defeated. In that case, the enraged titan also falls, and the battle ends.

Note: The enraged titan can receive healing, but they will still die when Last Flash ends.

wrath of the depths.png
Wrath of the Depths triggers when a titan dies. At the moment of their death, the titan turns into stone, rises high above the battlefield, and then falls right in the center of the opponent's team. The stone deals area damage and stuns opponents. The skill activates only once per battle.
Note: Last Flash and Wrath of the Depths activate once per battle. Thus, in game modes where you can attack the same team several times (e.g., Guild War, Clash of Worlds), the skills will activate again in each new battle against that defense team.

ice age.png
Ice Age triggers when the base totem skill of your opponent activates. This skill stuns all enemy titans for several seconds and applies fragility, increasing all incoming damage they receive.

If there are two totems in the opponent's team and they activate simultaneously, the skill will trigger both times. The second activation will only refresh the duration; the increased damage received does not stack.

If a titan is immune to debuffs or has a shield, the Ice Age will not affect them. For example, if the opponent's Earth Totem triggers its base skill and activates a shield, it will protect the team from your Ice Age.

Let us take a closer look at how this works with Murmur of the Crags, which creates a barrier upon activation. Ice Age triggers at the same time as the totem's base skill. Since there is a short delay between the totem's base skill and Murmur of the Crags, fragility and stun are applied before the barrier appears. That is why Ice Age applies these negative effects even if the rival totem has Murmur of the Crags.

Note: If Ice Age affects the protected team, you will see the activation animation (blue pillar), but the fragility debuff (cracked shield) and stun will not trigger:

Primal Skills

There are five Primal Skills in the game. They are triggered for individual titans under the described conditions and have their own cooldowns.

Primal Skills share the same animations for their effects. So, for example, the healing from Triple Cycle and Pulse of the Ancients will look the same in battle. You can see the visuals of the effects below.

triple cycle.png

The Triple Cycle applies different effects based on the bonus your titan gets from their allies or through other means. This skill can trigger only one effect per activation:

  • If a titan gets a shield effect, they will be healed.
  • If a titan gets a healing effect, their attack becomes more powerful.
  • If a titan gets a buff effect, a shield is applied to them.

Let's examine how it works with Iyari, who provides healing first and then casts an attack buff. As the healing comes first, the Triple Cycle will provide an attack buff. And since only one effect can be triggered per skill activation, Iyari's attack boost will not additionally activate a shield.

Note: When Sigurd activates his ultimate skill Icy Aegis, he gains immunity but does not create a shield. Therefore, the Triple Cycle cannot heal Sigurd when he activates this skill.

pulse of the ancients.png
Pulse of the Ancients heals an allied titan when they use their ability. The skill activates according to a cooldown, which depends on the skill rank.
Note: Supertitans have two abilities: the ultimate skill (grey) and the secondary skill (green). Pulse of the Ancients triggers when supertitans use either of their abilities.

primal zeal.png
Primal Zeal has a chance to restore part of a titan’s energy when they use their ultimate skill. The skill activation chance depends on the skill rank.
Note: Supertitans have two abilities: the ultimate skill (grey) and the secondary skill (green). Primal Zeal may activate only when they use the ultimate skill (grey).

echo aegis.png
Echo Aegis has a chance to apply a shield to a titan for 5 seconds when their previous shield breaks. The skill activation chance depends on the skill rank.
Note: When Sigurd activates his ultimate skill Icy Aegis, he gains immunity but does not create a shield. Therefore, Echo Aegis is not triggered when the effect of Icy Aegis ends.

call of the elements.png
Call of the Elements increases a titan's attack proportionally to their missing health.
